Depth

Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-08-13. Previous version: 2025-12-23.

Summary

  • Depth does not collect or sell personal data.
  • Photos are processed locally on your Mac (no upload).
  • No third-party trackers, no advertising SDKs in the app.
  • Anonymous usage counters are sent to our own server, and you can turn them off.

What data Depth processes

Depth processes the images you choose to import and the export files you generate. This processing happens locally on your device.

What data we collect

Depth sends a small number of anonymous usage events, so we can see which features are actually used and where people get stuck. There is no third-party analytics SDK in the app: the events go to a server we run ourselves, using Umami, and they are not shared with anyone.

Each event carries only:

  • the event name, taken from a fixed list: app opened, image imported, export completed, Pro screen shown, and purchase started, completed, cancelled or restored;
  • the Depth version, your macOS version, your interface language, and your main display resolution.

We never send an account or device identifier, a file name, a file path, or any part of your images or their depth data. These events cannot be traced back to you, nor tied together into a profile.

As with any request over the internet, the connection itself carries your IP address to our server. It is not part of the event data, and we do not use it to identify you.

You can turn this off. In Depth 1.2.3 and later, open Settings (Cmd+,) and switch off Anonymous usage statistics. It takes effect immediately, with no restart.

On earlier versions there is no switch in the interface. You can still disable it from Terminal:

defaults write com.JanTango.Depth analyticsEnabled -bool false

Purchases

If you purchase Pro, the transaction is processed by Apple. We do not receive your payment information.
